How we checked this case: Every claim here was read on the regulator's own site, not in second-hand coverage: the AMF's investor warning, the Austrian FMA's notice and the Belgian FSMA listing that carries it, and the FCNB caution as published on the Canadian Securities Administrators' national list. We checked all four domains against Google Public DNS ourselves on 30 September 2026. We name no individual or company as responsible, because no regulator has and because we could not establish one.
XBO Invest called itself a London trading platform. It took deposits for crypto and forex.
Between August 2024 and October 2025, four financial watchdogs in three countries said the same thing about it. It was not registered with them. It was not allowed to sell to their residents.
It kept taking money anyway. It moved between four web addresses as it went.
On 30 September 2026 we checked all four. None of them exist any more. Not switched off, not parked — gone from the internet's address book.
If your money is in XBO Invest, do these three things today
1. Stop paying. Someone may be telling you that a fee, a tax or a "release payment" will unlock your withdrawal. That is not how withdrawals work anywhere. Money you send now is money lost twice.
2. Ring your bank or card company. Use the words "investment fraud". What matters is how you paid, and how long ago. A card payment can often be reversed. A bank transfer can sometimes be recalled if you move fast. Crypto usually cannot — but tell the exchange you bought it from anyway. These deadlines are counted in days.
3. Write everything down now. The names your "account manager" used. Phone numbers. The email address he wrote from. Dates and amounts. Screenshots of your balance. The websites have already gone. Your own records are the only evidence left.
Then tell us what happened. We will go through it with you. It is free, and we will never ask you to pay to get your money back.
What the watchdogs actually said
Four authorities. Three countries. Fourteen months.
None of this is our opinion. Each one is a notice published on a watchdog's own website.
Reconstruction · not a screenshot
Québec, 21 August 2024. The financial watchdog there is the AMF. It added XBO Invest to its investor warnings, under crypto, forex and high-risk platforms. It named xboinvest.com. Its words: "XBO Invest is not registered with the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) and is not authorized to solicit investors in Québec."
Austria, 6 November 2024. The Austrian watchdog is the FMA. It published a warning under the country's banking law. The firm, it said, "is not authorised to conduct banking services in Austria that require a licence."
The same notice added one line worth reading twice. "We advise that there is a risk of confusion with another provider."
Belgium. The Belgian watchdog, the FSMA, carries that Austrian warning on its own list. Same date.
New Brunswick, 8 October 2025. The watchdog there is the FCNB. It told investors the company "is not registered to deal or advise in securities in New Brunswick."
It added why that matters. Firms that are not registered offer "no assurance of any investor protections."
Canada's national list picked it up on 20 October 2025.
That Canadian notice lists every address the platform used. It also gives the place XBO Invest claimed as its home: London, in the UK.
Four addresses, one operation
| Address | Named as |
|---|---|
| xboinvest.com | XBO Invest |
| xbo-investing.com | XBO Invest |
| xbinvest.net | XB Invest |
| trading.xbivest.net | Trading XB Invest |
Look at the third and fourth. One is xbinvest. The other is xbivest. One letter apart. Neither is quite the name on the first two.
That is not sloppiness. A platform that expects to be blocked buys its next address before it needs one. And a name one letter out will not turn up when someone searches for the old one.
We checked what is left. Nothing is.
On 30 September 2026 we asked Google's public DNS about all four addresses.
All four came back NXDOMAIN. That is the answer a name server gives when a domain does not exist at all. Not "the site is down". Not "the server won't answer". The names have been given up.
The public trail is just as thin. The Internet Archive holds exactly one snapshot of xboinvest.com. It was taken on 10 August 2024 — eleven days before the first watchdog named the company.
A name that is not this one
Search the FCA's warning list for "XBO" and you will find something. It is not this platform.
XBO Trading / XP Traders was published on 3 February 2025. It is about a website called xptraders.com.
It is a clone firm case. Someone was pretending to be a real licensed firm — Boussard & Gavaudan Investment Management LLP, reference number 612226.
Different websites. Different method. No link to XBO Invest that anyone has shown.
We mention it only because the names are close enough to mix up. Pinning the wrong watchdog's notice on the wrong company is the kind of mistake we would not accept from anyone else.
On 30 September 2026, XBO Invest was not on the FCA's warning list at all. Even though London is the address it gave.
That says what the list holds. Nothing more. The FCA warns about this itself. A firm missing from the list "may still be unauthorised or be a scam." Not being on a register proves nothing.
What we could not find out
We would rather say this plainly than let the gaps look like findings.
Who ran it. No watchdog has named a person or a company behind XBO Invest. Neither will we.
Whether a London company ever existed. "London, UK" is the address the operation gave. We found nothing to confirm a real registered firm behind it. That is not proof either way.
How much was taken. No authority has published a figure. We do not have one.
Why the sites went dark. A domain can lapse because an operation was shut down. Or because it moved on. All we know is that the names were given up.
What usually happens next
A platform going quiet is not the end of the story for the people who paid in.
It is the moment the second approach arrives. A call, or an email. Someone who knows what you lost, offering to get it back — for a fee, paid first.
He knows because the list of who paid is the most valuable thing an operation like this owns. It does not vanish with the website.
Any offer to recover your money that needs a payment up front is a recovery scam. No watchdog works that way. No bank does. No law firm does.
Is someone contacting you about money you lost to XBO Invest? That call is itself the warning sign.
Send it to us before you answer it. It is free, and we will never ask you for a fee.
