Which BITRUMARKET does the warning concern?
The FCA identifies www.bitrumarket.icu and [email protected]. It also lists addresses in London’s Canary Wharf and Frankfurt. Those are identifiers in the warning, not confirmation that the operator genuinely occupies those offices.
Match the domain against the website you used, your emails and payment instructions. A similar name is not enough: this report does not concern BitMart, BitMEX or every service beginning with “Bit”. The exact address matters when reporting a payment or checking a caller’s explanation.
The FCA’s finding is clear: the firm is not authorised by it and may be providing or promoting financial services without permission. We regard that as a serious risk, not a detail to overlook because a trading screen looks convincing.
What protection is missing?
The FCA says customers dealing with this firm will not have access to the UK Financial Ombudsman Service for a complaint against it, or FSCS protection if it fails. An address in Britain does not create those protections.
That is different from a complaint about the bank or payment provider that handled your transfer. The FCA warning also points to possible protections for qualifying scam payments. Eligibility depends on the payment and circumstances; it is not a promise that every BITRUMARKET transfer will be refunded. Readers outside the UK should ask their own provider about the rules applicable to their payment.
If BITRUMARKET refuses a withdrawal
A refusal, an unanswered request and an extra-fee demand are different facts. Record what actually happened in your case: the date you requested money, the amount, the stated reason and any reply. Save the account history before it changes.
Do not add a supposed tax, insurance payment or security deposit just to make a displayed balance withdrawable. A demand like this needs independent verification. We are describing what to do if you receive one, not claiming that a particular fee has been documented for every BITRUMARKET customer.
What to do after a payment
- Contact the payment provider promptly. Supply the recipient, amount, date and reference, together with the FCA notice. Ask about a transfer recall, fraud report or card dispute as appropriate, including deadlines. For crypto, preserve the transaction ID, network and destination address and notify the sending exchange.
- Keep the evidence together. Save the exact website, messages, terms supplied, account screenshots and withdrawal correspondence. Separate the amount you paid from profits shown only on screen.
- Review access you gave. If someone installed remote-access software or obtained a password, secure the affected device and accounts through genuine providers. Never share a wallet recovery phrase or one-time code with a “recovery agent”.
- Report the suspected problem accurately. The official notice supports the authorisation concern; your records support what happened to your payment. Keep both and retain report references.
Our blocked-withdrawal guide explains the payment-specific questions in more detail. Request a free phone consultation if you need help putting the sequence together or understanding a new demand. We can explain practical options and the records to prepare, without guaranteeing repayment.
