HTX UK withdrawals: how the one-time 48-hour window works

What changed for UK customers?

The FCA announced HTX's UK exit on 29 October 2026 after settling its financial-promotions case. The settlement does not include an admission of liability or wrongdoing. It does not establish that every HTX customer has lost money or that the exchange has closed worldwide.

HTX's operational notice, dated 16 October and linked by the FCA, addresses UK residents. It separates restricted accounts from a possible withdrawal exception. That distinction matters if you can see a balance but cannot use the normal trading or deposit functions.

Requesting access is not the same as being approved

The official notice directs affected users to [email protected], writing from the email registered to their HTX account and providing confirmation of personal use. Reach that address through the linked official notice rather than a sponsored result, social-media reply or unsolicited “support” message.

Ask for the case reference, documents needed and the precise time zone for any approved window. Keep the reply. Do not send passwords, one-time codes or wallet recovery phrases. A person who contacts you privately cannot establish that they represent HTX simply by knowing your balance.

The process is conditional on the applicable Personal Remittances General Licence and HTX's identity, ownership, sanctions and security checks. The Treasury's publication notice describes a cumulative £55,000 limit under that licence, not a fresh allowance for every coin or withdrawal. It also records reporting requirements for crypto payments. Eligibility and any reporting duty must be checked for the specific transaction; an exchange support approval is not a general exemption from the law.

If the value or circumstances fall outside the permission, seek clarification through the official process and appropriate independent legal advice. Splitting payments or changing the declared country is not a solution to an eligibility restriction.

Prepare before the approved period starts

Make a list of the assets held, preserve statements and check that the intended destination accepts each asset on the correct network. Confirm destination ownership and access securely. A wrong blockchain address or network can create a separate loss even when withdrawal is permitted.

HTX says the approved user must withdraw personally and that it does not send the assets for them. Different assets may require separate transactions and checks. Once the withdrawal is complete, the account is closed. Save transaction hashes and confirmation emails for your records.

The notice does not promise a support-response time or automatically explain what happens after a missed window. If you receive a refusal, ask for its reason and the available next step in writing. If a supposed support agent demanded a separate payment, preserve that request and report suspected fraud to your payment provider. For help understanding a restricted HTX account, request a free telephone consultation. We can help organise the notice, support correspondence and questions relevant to your situation; we cannot override HTX's checks or promise a payout.
